Step 1:
UNPLUG YOUR ELECTROLUX VACUUM CLEANER. Electrolux vacuum belts come in a variety of different sizes. Make sure the belt you bought or your about to buy is specifically for the PN-5 powerhead.

Step 2:
Disconnect the PN5 powerhead by unplugging the pigtail powercord. Press down on the lever located on the neck of the Electrolux powerhead and withdraw the metal wand.

Step 3:
Place the powerhead upside down on a flat surface so that you have access to the bottom plate. Remove the phillips head screws and put them to the side. Flip the powerhead back over so that you are looking at the top of it. LOOK AT THE RESET SWITCH ON THE POWERHEAD. When you remove the top of the machine, the switch may be attached to the top. The switch doesn't need to be disconnected. When you remove the top of the powerhead cover, making sure you "baby" the section where the switch is located. Pick the power head cover up just high enough to remove it from the base, minding the reset switch wires.

Step 4:
Look at the ends of the vacuum brush roller. Notice the screw in front of each end of the vacuum roller. Remove both screws. Pull out the roller. Remove the old vacuum belt and inspect the roller. Use a scissor to remove any hair, string, and carpet fiber from the roller. Make sure the roller it is spinning freely.

Step 5:
Install a new vacuum belt by placing it over the motor shaft first. Now you will place your geared vacuum belt over the belt pulley on the roller. Then placing the roller back into place. Reinstall the screws that secure the roller.

Step 6:
Spin the vacuum cleaner roller a few times to assure that everything is ok. Reassemble your Electrolux PN5 vacuum cleaner power head.
