How to Replace a Commercial Sanitaire Vacuum Belt

Most Sanitaire vacuum bags are made by and for Eureka vacuum cleaners.

Step 1:
UNPLUG YOUR SANITAIRE VACUUM CLEANER. Make sure the belt you are using is designed round (not flat) and designed to fit a Sanitaire or Eureka upright. Hoover makes a rounded belt, but it isn't the right size for the Sanitaire.

Step 2:
Place your Sanitaire vacuum cleaner upside down on a surface similar to the one shown in the photo.Touch the release on the right side of the vacuum cleaner so the handle isn't in a locked position.

Step 3:
Push the releases on the bottom of the vacuum out with your thumb to remove the bottom plate on the machine.
Remove the bottom plate. If there is still a vacuum cleaner belt on the vacuum, remove it from the motor shaft now.

Step 4:
Remove the brush roller from the vacuum cleaner. Remove any hair, string, or carpet strands from the roller with a scissor. Place the new vacuum cleaner belt around the roller and place the roller back in position.

Step 5:
Look down at your Sanitaire vacuum cleaner and notice a groove that is etched into the bottom of the vacuum housing. This is a guide to make sure you don't install the belt backwards.
Pull the belt into positon over the motor shaft. Look at the picture and confirm that your belt is in the same position on your machine.

Step 6:
Spin the roller a couple of times to make sure everything is
installed correctly. Place the bottom place back on the vacuum and lock it back into place.
